the comparison with the Prefecture of Crotone

Today it was held at Crotone, on an initiative promoted by the national President of Fenimprese, un public confrontation on the subject of racketeering and extortion with the important intervention of the Prefect Maria Grazia Nicolò, Special Commissioner of the Government, for the coordination of anti-racket and usury initiatives.

In the presence of the organizations representing the businesses, traders and local crafts and with the greetings, among others, of the Prefect of Crotone, the Mayor of Crotone and the Police Commissioner, the Commissioner intended to highlight all the opportunities granted by Laws no. 108/1996 and n.44/1999 regarding access to benefits for victims of extortion and usury also in the face of the multifaceted criminal functions of territorial control that the criminal syndicates assign “protection” and usurious loans.

During the debate, attention was focused on the touching experience – in a certain sense of rebellion compared to the worrying phenomenon of the underground economy – told by some extorted local entrepreneurs who, with the gesture of reporting, recently gave rise to a significant operation anti-Ndrangheta organized by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Catanzaro. This determination has also sparked a vast mobilization of support from large sectors of civil society who have publicly demonstrated their closeness and solidarity.

The sharing of experiences was enriched by the testimony of Giovanni Notarianni, Witness of Justice, who focused on the aspects of the recovery of freedom and dignity of man who, through denunciation, frees himself from the direct or indirect conditioning of organized crime.
