The playmaker from Sassari of Reyer Venezia and the national team Marco Spissu he was a guest on Dazn Got Game, a format hosted by Pierluigi Pardo and Matteo Gandini dedicated to Serie A basketball. The former Dinamo player spoke about his team’s moment and the future, both regarding the national team and his career. Below is an excerpt.
On Sassari and the future
“I would definitely like to come back, I won’t deny it. But now I’m a Venezia player, I’m happy here, I think I still have many years ahead of me. It’s not something that obsesses me, it’s a secret dream I have to finish in front of my family. I’m still young, there’s still a long way to go.”
On the summer with the national team and on the possible Olympics
“I imagine a troubled summer for sure, because we will have little time to prepare, whoever has to make the scudetto final will have little time to reach us. Luckily the core is very cohesive, it won’t be difficult to put the games together, we know how we play together and this is fundamental. We will give everything to qualify for the Olympics, it would be like making another dream come true. We also saw the group in case we were to qualify, it’s tough but that’s the beauty of the matches, facing the United States, the real ones, it doesn’t happen every time. We want to do it for ourselves and for all our fans.”
On Pozzecco
“He is fiery, he was also fiery on the pitch during his years as a player. This is why he knows what we need to do our best. He wants to be one of us and this allows the players to be on his side, to want to throw themselves into the fire for him. Everyone plays for him, so everyone plays for everyone. If he could, he would like to play six against five, it’s clear that he can’t, now he’s of a certain age (laughs, ed.)”.
On the playoffs with Venezia
“I hope we all get there healthy, we need to see who we face and many other factors. If we get there with a trickle of gas it will be even better.”
