On Tuesday 7 May, in all the public schools of the region, elections will be held to elect the representative of the Aosta Valley in the Superior Council of Public Education, “the body guaranteeing the unity of the national education system and providing technical and scientific support » by the Minister of Education.
SNALS and SAVT present themselves with a joint electoral list, in which Alessandro Celi and Diego Salto, secondary school teachers, are candidates. The agreement between the two trade union organizations is based on a question of method and on the sharing of a vast program of initiatives aimed at the different orders and levels of education, as well as the auxiliary, technical and administrative staff of the schools in the Valley.
The councilor who will be elected, in fact, will represent not only the teachers, but also the other figures who work in regional schoolswhich is why the SAVT also with the Fonction Publique became active in the electoral competition.

On the question of methodthe candidates undertake to guarantee a constant connection with the territory for the exchange of information coming from Rome, with the aim of maintain a close relationship both with the workers and with the regional bodies of the two Unions and, again, with the Superintendence of Studies, in such a way that the elected representative responds to his territory and not to national logics extraneous and distant from the needs of the Aosta Valley, especially at a time when the introduction of differentiated autonomy – under discussion in the Chamber on April 29th – will lead to important changes for the education system in Italy.

What stands out in the coalition’s program is the commitment to defending the Valle d’Aosta school model starting frombilingual and plurilingual early education; the fight against the indiscriminate use of co-presences to cover absences; The competition for the educational staff of the “Chabod” boarding school; The strengthening of staff at different levels of education, taking into account the numerous annual substitutes that could be stabilised; interventions on understaffed secretarieseconomic recognition also to administrative staff who are committed to carrying out further projects and activities compared to ordinary ones.
To vote, teachers and non-teachers will have the entire day of May 7 available at the polling station that will be set up in each educational institution. The secretariats of the two unions invite their members and all voters to vote for list no. IV “Rénover ensemble l’école de l’autonomie” expressing only one preference between the two possibilities.
