«Persiani transform ‘Casa Ascoli’ into a Special Company like the ‘Regina Elena’ of Carrara through direct intervention»

MASSA – “The Casa Ascoli affair increasingly resembles a tragic comedy with talk show features, except that those who pay for it are workers and service users. In recent months we have heard everything, with positions affirmed and denied in the space of a few hours by institutions, politicians and trade unions (not all). The fact is that the real situation sees the public personal services company which, one year after entrusting work to a well-known accountant, not only has not yet implemented a sustainable industrial plan, but is in such a critical situation to put two credit cooperatives in crisis for years (Compass and Di Vittorio)”. The Fp Cgil Massa-Carrara is speaking on this matter.

“There are many unanswered questions that everyone rushes to chat about without knowledge of the facts: when will the agreement for the industrial plan, the recognition of credit to co-ops be signed? Despite the statements of a trade union signature in the press, we understand that to date nothing has been signed – observes the CGIL through the voice of its general secretary of the Public Function Alessio Menconi who asks – What will become of Compass workers, who have been for months at the mercy of intolerable and unbearable structural salary delays? What will happen to the direct employees of Casa Ascoli, for whom a stable position has not yet been found? What will become of the last RSA of the Municipality of Massa after the new global service tender that will be made in the coming months? When and how will we intervene on the Quercioli structure which is in dilapidated conditions due to lack of manpower interventions? Currently there are departments closed because when it rains they flood.”

He asks again for the union logo: “Do Mayor Francesco Persiani and his council intend to continue stalling or do they have a serious and concrete project in mind to propose to unions and citizens? Will Casa Ascoli undergo total privatization or are there plans to enhance and redevelop the public company? In the second case, a clear position would be needed: if important investments are needed, could the Municipality finance them? If the current legal nature of Casa Ascoli does not allow it, change the legal nature and transform, through a political act, Casa Ascoli from a “Public company for personal services” to a “Special Company”, like the “Regina Elena ” of Carrara. Only and only in that case could the municipal administration carry out a direct intervention to pay off debts and start again, avoiding an unfortunate collapse for employees and elderly users of the service. Politics should be at the service of the community for the common good, and not the other way around. Everything else is the chatter of professional politicians.”
