The 19 new restaurateurs awarded at Vinitaly from today «Ambassadors of Campania wines». Each representing a different Italian region, the Ambassadors join the 19 awarded last year. In its second edition, the competition is dedicated to the best Campania wine lists in Italian restaurants selected by a jury of experts made up of Antonio Paolini, Curator of restaurant guides, journalist and food and wine critic, Leila Salimbeni, editorial director of the magazine Spirito diVino and collaborator of the Guida Ristoranti dell’Espresso e Chiara Giovoni, wine expert and coordinator of the award.
Here are the awarded restaurants: Villa Maiella (1 Michelin Star) for Abruzzo, Romano (1 Michelin Star) for Tuscany, Andrea Aprea (2 Michelin Stars) for Lombardy, Da Nando for Friuli Venezia Giulia, Ombre Rosse for ‘Emilia Romagna, La Credenza (1 Michelin Star) for Piedmont, Enoteca La Torre a Villa Laetitia (2 Michelin Stars) for Lazio, Monticelli Sapere e Sapori for Molise, Dimora Ulmo for Basilicata, Da Tuccino for Puglia, Laprodo for Calabria, Don Camillo for Sicily, Peter Brunel (1 Michelin Star) for Trentino Alto Adige, Le Calandre (3 Michelin Stars) for Veneto, Forte Village for Sardinia, Ristorante Posillipo for the Marche, Paolo Griffa at Caffè Nazionale (1 Michelin Star) for the Aosta Valley, San Giorgio for Liguria, I Sette Consoli for Umbria.
For the first time, the wines most present in the wine lists of the restaurants that were nominated Ambassadors last year were also awarded: Vino Mainstream Costa d’Amalfi Furore Bianco Dop «Fiorduva» by Marisa Cuomo CellarsRed of the Year Colli di Salerno PGI from Montevetrano, White of the Year Greco di Tufo PDO «Giallo d’Arles» from Fifth and tenth, Bubbly of the Year Caprettone Classic Method Sparkling Wine Pietrafumante Brut by Setaro House.
Activities continue inside the Campania Pavilion, an exhibition space of approximately 5800 square meters with over 180 wine companies present, which sees the collaboration between the regional Departments of Agriculture and Productive Activities with the four Campania Chambers of Commerce and the 7 Consortia of producers, Vitica, Irpinia, Sannio, Vita Salernum Vites, Vesuvius, Campi Flegrei and Ischia, Sorrento Peninsula. Also this year a very rich program of masterclasses, tastings, focuses and in-depth studies with the participation of highly authoritative expressions of the academic world and the national and international specialized press, in addition to the Regional Enoteca which offers tastings to the public, with the support of the specialized sommeliers of AIS Campania, the vast range of Campania denominations.
«The objective we have set ourselves – states the Agriculture councilor of the Campania Region Nicola Caputo – is to strengthen the link between Campania’s wine producers and the restaurateurs who are testimonials of our wine production outside the region. For the first year, four wineries were also awarded for their presence in last year’s Ambassador wine lists: Cantine Marisa Cuomo, Casa Setaro, Montevetrano and Quintodecimo. This journey doesn’t end here: our dream is to create a Campania wine network, made up of those who know about Campania wine and those who care about its promotion.”
