Last week proved to be more challenging than usual for the local police of Bergamo, who had to intervene in a case of acts against public decency, which then degenerated into assault, as well as to foil a theft and stop a centaur who, instead of stopped at the stop, fled and then resisted arrest.
He urinates in public and attacks officers
The first violent episode occurred on Monday 8 April, when the officers intervened in the Malpensata district, after having noticed around 11.50 am a man urinating in public in the green area of via Mozart. When they approached him to ask for documents, the subject flew into a rage, biting one of them on the side and giving the other a strong elbow to the side.
Arrested for resisting a public official and aggravated assault, he was also sanctioned for acts contrary to public decency. As for the two officers, they received four and seven days of prognosis respectively, in the latter case for a fractured rib. The arrest was later validated.
Bicycle thief arrested
The next day, however, a patrol stopped at 1pm in Piazzale Alpini BS, a 26-year-old who was trying to steal a bicycle from a rack. As is known, in order to stop the individual for crimes like this, a complaint from the owner of the vehicle is necessary, so after having prevented the crime they left a note on the two-wheeler to warn him.
The cyclist then showed up that afternoon at the headquarters in via Coghetti and the would-be thief was arrested for attempted aggravated theft and unauthorized possession of objects capable of offending. After the validation of the measure, the young man was also banned from staying in our province.
A dangerous centaur
What happened a couple of days later was particularly eventful, when on Thursday at 8.32pm a chase was started for a motorcyclist who had not stopped at the stop. The motorbike, with the officers behind it, continued to race even outside the city, in Seriate and Gorle, with evasive manoeuvres, going at full speed through stop signs and red lights and traveling the wrong way through the streets of the area.
The local police, however, always remained attached to him and reached him at the Valli di Ponteranica roundabout, where the underpass is located. The centaur abandoned the vehicle and tried to escape on foot onto the nearby embankment. When the officers approached to handcuff him, he kicked and punched to keep them at a distance and hinder them, but in the end he was stopped. Accused of resisting and violence against a public official, he was taken to the Via Gleno prison.
