During the morning of Friday 5 April 2024, personnel of the Flying Squad of Turin, responsible for the prevention and repression of the phenomenon of predatory crimes against subjects belonging to the “weak groups”, implemented a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the Court of Turin against three subjects, father-in-law and sons-in-law respectively sintiseriously suspected of seven aggravated residential burglaries, attempted or committed, committed against elderly people.
The investigation activity began in December 2023, when the investigators, analyzing the dynamics of the numerous predatory crimes committed to the detriment of elderly victims, isolated some thefts committed in Turin with the same modus operandicarried out by fake radiator technicians who, claiming to have to carry out a check on the pipes, managed to access the inside of the victims’ homes and rob them of their belongings.
By analyzing the disputed facts, it was possible to identify the so-called “work” car used by the group under investigation, allowing the group’s associates to be fully identified and to collect against them there are serious indications of guilt in relation to the aforementioned crimes, committed in Turin and in the province, in the period between 5 December 2023 and 22 February 2024; the value of the assets stolen in such circumstances was quantified by the injured parties at around 200,000 euros, including money and jewellery, many of which constituted the memory of a lifetime and also had a significant sentimental value.
The circumstantial compendium acquired during the investigations was shared by the Court of Turin which, at the request of the local Public Prosecutor’s Office, issued the restrictive measure in question.
On the day of the execution of this measure, the three subjects were all located at their homes and the searches carried out allowed the seizure of material useful for investigative purposes.
