The toll of the accident which occurred this morning on the A14 motorway in the stretch between Molfetta and Bitonto, in the direction of Bari, is one dead and one injured. The victim is a 54-year-old man originally from the Neapolitan area who was traveling as a passenger on a lorry , for reasons still under investigation, would have rear-ended a truck. The person seriously injured is the driver of the articulated lorry: the man was rescued and transported to hospital.
Traffic police officers intervened on site and carried out investigations. Autostrade per l’Italia informs that those traveling towards Bari “after the obligatory exit at Molfetta” can “take the ordinary road system and subsequently return to the motorway at Bitonto”.
ROAD UPDATE 10:00 AM
The stretch between Molfetta and Bitonto, towards Bari, has been reopened, previously closed due to the accident which occurred at km 653.9. Medical and mechanical emergency services, traffic police patrols and staff from the 8th Bari section of Autostrade per l’Italia intervened on the scene. At the moment, within the affected section, traffic passes on one lane and there is a 2 kilometer queue at the previous mandatory Molfetta exit.
