REGGIO EMILIA – First he entered the house, qualifying himself as a water network technician on site to carry out a check, then he distracted the elderly owner of the apartment by setting off a firecracker and lighting a smoke bomb. Once a situation of chaos arose, the criminal took away the money and jewels and disappeared without a trace. Only later did the elderly victim of the scam realize that she had been robbed and with the help of her family she turned to the police.
It happened in Montechiarugolo, in the Parma area, a few kilometers from the Reggio area. It is one of the new techniques adopted by unscrupulous, unscrupulous individuals, ready to do anything to steal money and valuables by targeting vulnerable people. The police do not rule out that the perpetrators of this coup may act shortly also in the nearby Reggio Emilia area.
The arrival of the fake water network technician had been preceded about fifteen minutes earlier by a phone call that had alerted the old woman of the need for the inspection, asking her to collect the valuables kept in the house in a plastic bag to protect them from the use of a substance to be introduced into the pipes which, with its fumes, could have damaged them. So be careful.
