“Brindisi – Municipality in support of life donors”, inauguration of the supplementary road signs

BRINDISI – “Brindisi – Municipality in support of life donors”, is the message that since yesterday, Sunday 14 April 2024, has been reported on the supplementary road signs installed in the access roads to the city of Brindisi, inaugurated this morning during a ceremony in the presence of the Mayor of Brindisi Giuseppe Marchionna, the Councilor for Urban Decor and LL.PP. Dr. Gianluca Quarta, always attentive and close to the world of volunteering.

The Municipal Administration of Brindisi, effectively supporting the mission of the gift associations, completed the installation of the new road signs, immediately and effectively welcoming the proposal received from Aido Brindisi.

The inaugural unveiling of the supplementary panels was held in Via Appia, near number no. 295 where, at 11 am today, the mayor Giuseppe Marchionna and the Councilor Gianluca Quarta, after a brief greeting from the Municipal Administration, proceeded to remove the cover amidst the applause of the managers and volunteers of AIDO (Italian Association for the Donation of Organs, Tissues and Cells – “Marco Bungaro” Municipal Group of Brindisi ODV), of the other voluntary associations involved and of the various citizens who presented themselves for the occasion.

The public exhibition coincided with this date since for April 14th, the Ministry of Health has decreed, again this year, the National Day for the donation of organs and tissues, through the promotion and diffusion of the culture of gift also through municipal administrations and voluntary associations.

The objective of the initiative which saw the city of Brindisi as protagonist is to raise awareness and allow the dissemination of a message aimed at road users, aiming to increase the number of potential donors of organs, blood, bone marrow and stem cells and strengthening coordination with health services. The donation of organs, tissues and cells represents an act of solidarity towards others, a sign of great civilization and respect for life, as well as a system for implementing responsible citizenship in a practical and tangible way. Transplantation represents an effective therapy for some serious diseases and the only therapeutic solution for some pathologies that are not otherwise curable.

On this occasion, the leaders of the Aido Brindisi Municipal Group wanted to reiterate their heartfelt thanks to the Municipal Administration, to the Mayor Marchionna and to the Councilor Gianluca Quarta also on behalf of the managers, representatives and volunteers of the voluntary associations involved (ADMO, ADISCO, ADOCES, AVIS, FRATRES).
