A heartfelt thank you to the 1004 citizens who supported me in these primary elections, which I lost, reaching – as is politics – 49.9%. A flattering and not at all obvious result (this is how it went, ed), important for the Fano left even before it was for me, which contributed to putting the choice of candidate for Mayor back in the hands of the centre-left voters and finally opening the doors to a new season of democratic participation.
Thanks therefore also to those who shared the challenge of the primaries with me: Cora Fattori, Etienn Lucarelli and Cristian Fanesi, to whom I once again send my best wishes for good work as I did last night by hugging him in Piazza Costanzi.
My result and the participation recorded by the primaries are both results built with patience, passion, humility and with a long mobilization campaign conducted with generosity and loyalty, without ever bowing to the hostility of customers, lobbies and old politics. With my back straight and my head held high, as I always have done in many years of commitment to the service of Fano.
Results that would not have been possible without the intelligence, enthusiasm, humanity, affection of dozens of wonderful volunteers who never left me alone in carrying, like the lampstand, the pole with the light along the road. We have made this road a little less dark and we will continue to do so without abandoning the smile with which today I embrace you all with infinite affection and gratitude, proud of what we have done together and will continue to do together.
