Descriptive text here

Vincenzo Pomar, singer-songwriter from Palermo and founder of Officinapalermo, an association that creates cultural spaces to enhance local artists, has passed away. He was sixty-nine years old: the news of his death profoundly affected the musical and cultural world, with many messages of condolence published on social media, which once again became a space for sharing pain, but also many anecdotes from those who had known him. artist and remembers him by recounting the carefree moments spent together. «Vincenzo the singer, the skipper, the man, the friend, forever friend, timeless friend, friend of everyone and loved by everyone. He found the best side of each of us and each of us knew how to express it with him…
I am saddened”, writes Federico, who remembers Pomar in all his “guests”.

In fact, his passion for music began when he was young: at eighteen he went to live in Paris, in the Latin Quarter, where he came into contact with numerous South Americans who taught him the rhythms of their countries. Until the age of twenty-eight he played with Angelo Merlino, both in France and in Italy, participating in some albums. Upon returning to Palermo he then worked in the insurance sector for about fourteen years, but then dedicated himself to another of his passions, that of boats. At forty-four years old, Pomar was a skipper, but he also started playing again. He then founded the Officinapalermo association together with Maurizio Curcio, musician and music producer, and wrote numerous songs. Again with Curcio, he created the artistic project which includes the CD «I bambini di Diritti» and the show of the same name for acoustic quartet. In the lyrics of his songs there is a strong charge of optimism and a continuous invitation to turn to life with a positive spirit.

«Do you remember in Paris when you, I and your brother Roberto passed ourselves off as Latin American musicians in La Candelaria in the Latin Quarter, challenging the repertoire of Inti Illimani in exchange for a paella? We were the Pomàr Hermanos”, is the message of the journalist Daniele Billitteri, who continues: “You were the big brother, son of Gianni Pomar, the lawyer with a human face and of Anna, the journalist who was the spoonful of all the pots and who did not there was a breath of wind passing through Palermo that she didn’t know how to catch. You were a turbulent driving force and an unmissable diner at the Crastaglione parties in August. And you were also in the water when you played water polo, a sport that you would have passed on to all your brothers. With the guitar you had this touch of a Latin narrator with the syncopated rhythm and the palm that silenced the strings and that too became a sound. You sang, you played, you composed. Goodbye Vice’ you are now sailing in other seas. I hope that up there you find some blessed person who you will be able to convince to change a boring smile into a splendid laugh.”

And again: «And who imagined that your death would hurt me so much? – Giulia writes -. Crazy pain. I’ll see you in the waters of a big head, with a scary cern. And a huge smile. HI”. Music and the sea are also intertwined in Massimiliano’s message: «Always engaging and aggregative with your guitar and on sailing boats, you always left the memory of carefree and cheerful evenings. Good wind wherever you go.”
