Campagnatico: Confesercenti Grosseto intervenes in the debate triggered by the approval of calendar of celebrations and festivals of the Municipality of Campagnatico and the consequent position taken by the provincial Confcommercio, with which a common battle is shared in defense of the catering category not against festivals, but in favor of their regulation.

“Together with my colleague from Confcommercio – says Andrea Biondi provincial director of Confesercenti – we metaphorically took pen and inkwell and wrote with a joint signature to all the municipal administrations of our province, so that popular gastronomic events do not lead to unfair competition, even if temporary, with classic catering, as happens in various territories of our Maremma”.

“I would even like to point out that Confesercenti Grosseto, through its trade union Fiepet, through the provincial president, Massimiliano Mei, sent exactly one year ago a draft municipal regulation in compliance with the regional Commerce Code. Demonstrating that there is not a war against festivals, but a request for regulation.”

“While some mayors, especially following the entry into force of the 2018 Code of Commerce of the Tuscany Region (art. 52 Temporary activity) have correctly regulated temporary events involving the provision of food and drinks, responding to the requests of the catering sector, in other places it was decided not to rein in a phenomenon which, behind the reasons for the sacrosanct socialization of communities, too often hides phenomena of repeated unfair competition in defiance of the constraints of regional legislation which, I remind you, provide that the temporary activity of supply of food and drinks for parties and festivals cannot last longer than ten days, with the need to monitor the bad practice which sees the perpetual proposal of an open-air restaurant almost continuously from June to September, simply changing name and associative subject of reference of the party or festival” continues Biondi.

“Naturally, the obligation to respect health and hygiene regulations also persists, and with regards to workplace safety, which, we remember, also applies to voluntary work. Finally, the proceeds deriving from these events must be used exclusively for statutory purposes, and on this point public administrators must be reminded to intervene on the parties and festivals organized by sports associations, given that the recent sports reform has decreed the obligation of adaptation of the statutes, with the need to precisely define the main activity, and relegate any secondary activity to marginal activity. In short, we have strong doubts that a sports association can organize a party or festival with the aim of raising funds to finance its sporting activity”.

Confesercenti Grosseto will not hesitate to request the intervention of the supervisory bodies on events that risk damaging, through unfair competition, the legitimate interests of its members.
