BOLOGNA, MAR 29 – Beaten and exploited to make them beg in the streets of central Bologna. Three Romanian women are the victims of two compatriots, arrested by the Police, coordinated by the DDA, with precautionary custody measures in prison for human trafficking and enslavement. The flying squad’s investigation starts from the complaint of two young sisters, recruited in 2019 by their compatriots with the promise of arriving in Italy to work as maids. Instead, they were forced to beg on the streets, handing over their earnings, beaten and threatened with repercussions against their family members back home. The investigators also came across a third victim who on one occasion, as documented by a video in the documents, was attacked and beaten under a porch by one of the two suspects: she too had arrived in Italy with the hope of a job, ending up being exploited. Important for the investigation was the testimony of an Italian woman who, on some occasions, had the opportunity to see one of the victims with the signs of the beatings he had suffered.
