Foggia. The ‘Vigilant Grandparents’ are a reassuring and much loved presence in our community, particularly in front of schools. This morning one of their delegations was received at Palazzo di Città by the mayor Episcopo and the local police councilor Daniela Patano, who thanked them for their commitment – they are volunteers and do not receive any compensation – and for the admirable civic sense shown . On this occasion, some problems inherent to their activity were also addressed and resolved, which they would like to be even more operational (but a new regulation is needed).
“In recent years there has been a significant drop in attendance, due to reaching age limits. We remind you then that to join this smiling and motivated team you must be aged between 50 and 75, have a medical certificate certifying good health and you can submit a written application directly to the headquarters of the local Police Command, in via Manfredi in Foggia: an opportunity to make the best use of one’s free time, to feel and be an integral part of a supportive and protective community”.
