Meghan Markle has been accused of trying to steal the limelight from Princess Kate’s much-anticipated return, last Saturday, at the official royal engagements, at Trooping the Colour. The Duchess of Sussex’s fault, according to some UK media, is that of having advertised on Instagram two new products for sale from her ‘American Riviera Orchard’ business just a few hours before the Princess of Wales made her first public appearance since weeks.
In particular, writes the Express, the Argentine polo player Nacho Figueras, a friend of Meghan and Prince Harry, published photos of the Duchess of Sussex’s raspberry jam on the social network just as Kate was about to arrive at the king’s birthday parade . Figueras then posted a photo of Meghan’s new product on her Instagram Stories and hinted that the Sussexes’ company would also offer dog treats. A second photo showed her dog, Nina Iggy, sitting next to a jar full of treats, with a label that appeared to be written by Meghan.
The jam’s label bore the words “2 of 2,” suggesting that Figueras was one of only two people who received a jar of it. Meghan’s previous batch of strawberry jam was just 50 jars and had been given as gifts to the duchess’ friends and celebrities. Meghan announced her new lifestyle brand ‘American Riviera Orchard’ in March, posting a 16-second video on Instagram featuring the duchess cooking, arranging flowers and walking around her home in Montecito, California.
