The documentary film “Food for Profit“, signed by Giulia Innocenzi and Pablo d’Ambrosi, is preparing to make its national preview debut on Rai 3 in the “Report” program of Sunday 5 May. This cinematic work, which has already attracted attention for over two months, highlights the complex dynamics of power relations in the field of agriculture and European funds.

The documentary reveals how large lobbies of the livestock industry exercise considerable influence on political decisions in Europe, often jeopardizing transparency and public interests.

This influence manifests itself above all to the detriment of the strategies outlined by the Commission and the European Parliament in the context of Green Deala crucial agreement to address current environmental challenges, such as climate change, biodiversity loss and health emergencies linked to antimicrobial resistance and avian influenza.

LAV contributed to making the documentary film

There WORK (Anti Vivisection League) played a fundamental role in the realization of this project, contributing to its implementation and coordinating the investigation activities in the farms presented in the film. The CAP (Common Agricultural Policy), with its almost 400 billion euros of funds in 5 years, represents a crucial policy instrument that defines the distribution of financing in the field of agriculture and sustainability.

Lorenza Bianchi, head of the Food Transition area of LAV, underlined the urgency of addressing the problems linked to the livestock industry, highlighting the link between animal welfare, public health and the environment. The concentration of power in the agri-food sector and the influence of large companies represent the real challenges to be faced, overcoming the limited approach of “greening” policies.

Through the documentary “Food for Profit”, a space for reflection opens up on the complex dynamics that characterize the European agricultural sector, inviting spectators and political decision-makers to consider more balanced and sustainable solutions for the future of agriculture and society as a whole.
