Another truly dark moment for this edition of the Island of the Famous, Pietro Fanelli’s off-air has very serious consequences.
The 2024 edition of The Island of the Famous has been characterized by moments of great tension and controversy, and one of the main protagonists of this story is Pietro Fanelli. The young man, with an ephebic appearance and a tormented look, immediately stood out his fiery temperament and his artistic streak.
Called by everyone “the poet”, Pietro was experiencing the experience on the island as a personal challenge against himself. He declared that he wanted to find new stimuli for his art, but he struggled to bond with the other castaways and gain approval from the pundits in the studio.
One of the most discussed moments was when Pietro was involved in a controversy over food stolen from a cameran during an off-air event on the Island. While other castaways tried to deny the theft, Pietro was the only one to confess his guilt. When the commentator Sonia Bruganelli attacked Khadi Gueye, another participant in the reality show, for her involvement in the theft, Pietro took his defense, causing a heated discussion with Sonia Bruganelli.
During the exchange, Pietro accused the commentator of being hypocritical and insensitive to the difficulties of the castaways. He defended Khadi and the others, arguing that hunger can push people to commit questionable actions, but that the real shame is that of those who judge without understanding the circumstances. The commentator did not take her words well, replying firmly that she is paid to comment and that Pietro should limit himself to doing what he was paid to do. The public is divided but there are those who call for immediate disqualification. On the other hand, the boy broke the rules in no uncertain terms.

However, reactions from the public and viewers were mixed. Many praised Pietro for his courage in defending his companions, while others criticized him for his irreverent behavior towards the commentator. But the most controversial moment happened outside after his abandonment from the Island. A shocking video has emerged in which Pietro, perhaps jokingly, admits to some friends present there that he was on theIsland just to gain notoriety and actually not particularly love this well-known show. The video sparked a wave of criticism on social media, with many commentators shocked by its revelation.
Some comments on social media were rather crude: “False… and Fake… empty” and again: “If you think you’re getting notoriety like this, bye bye dear. We Italians know how to create your end very well”, wrote a user. Others expressed disappointment and disgust at Peter’s behavior, pointing out how his alleged deceit had compromised him its credibility and integrity.
Irony or truth? And the much desired abandonment
Following the release of the video, requests for the ePietro’s immediate expulsion from the Island have increased significantly. Many viewers are doubting Pietro’s intentions, seen now more than ever, following the publication and diffusion of this video, which is more suspicious than ever. What is certain is that the context in which the clip was shot was very funny and ironic, so that cannot be ruled out it may all have simply been a joke. But after a few hours the video was ‘deleted’ and this led many to think that it had actually been eliminated from the production.
His superficial attitude and desire for fame at all costs were perhaps compromising his relationship with the public, leading to a possible elimination from Island of the Famous, but it would have been a bad moment for the program again, given what happened a short time ago with Francesco Benigno. Pietro Fanelli remains certainly one of the most discussed and controversial characters of this edition: Despite the controversies, everyone will remember the angelic boy for years to come.
