The truth arrives (finally). Peppe of Naples on the farewell to the Island of the famous. The web star fishmonger, who in a handful of weeks spent on the Honduran atoll had managed to win the affection (and avalanches of votes) of viewers with his entirely Neapolitan friendliness, was one of Verissimo’s guests in the episode broadcast today – Saturday 27 April 2024 – and Toffanin himself provided a new version (hopefully defined) regarding the reasons that led him to withdraw from the reality show Vladimir Luxuria.

Peppe Di Napoli said goodbye to the Island of the famous 2024 just over a week ago. The his retirement was announced by the production with a note that spoke of unspecified health problems that had pushed the fishmonger to quit. A few hours later, however, Peppe himself appeared on social media revealing that his withdrawal had been dictated mainly by other reasons (“I’m tired, I can’t take it anymore”, he said on Instagram). Now, however, here is the definitive version provided in the presence of Silvia Toffanin, to whom Di Napoli revealed a new, unpublished backstory. Apparently the real reason that pushed the fishmonger off the island concerned his family, and more precisely the feeling of nostalgia he felt for his wife and her children. “I love my wife and my children. Without them I felt bad at night I wasn’t sleeping. I looked at the stars and thought about my wife. I was selfish to leave home. In fact, the reality was this, I was weak. It happened on the Island that I fell and hurt my hip, but I left the Island because of the love I feel for my wife, which increases day by day. My wife had stomach cancer 5 years ago.”
Di Napoli, with teary eyes, then revealed how he himself noticed his wife’s illness: “I discovered it, because I saw the movements she makes every day changed. I told her to go to have a check-up and the problem came out… The doctor told me: “You are your wife’s angel”. I was alone with her for two months and I didn’t even go to work when she got sick I was so scared. My wife is fine today, fortunately, but specific checks still need to be done every six months.”
Of Naples and the attack on the fish shop
The former contestant on the Island of the Famous then stopped to talk about a bad episode he experienced a couple of years ago. Immediately after the popularity boom that made him one of the most followed content creators in Italy, Di Napoli was the target of the underworld: “Two years ago they blew up the fish shop with a bomb, but I work and I’m not afraid of no one because I work 22 hours a day, I want respect. I believe that when these things happen you shouldn’t be scared because the more scared you are, the weaker you are.”
