Native of Gaeta and with no criminal record, Biagio Marsella is a personal trainer and wellness coach, he defines himself as a specialist in training and psychophysical well-being. On the web he presents himself as a «trainer and trainer of top managers, well-known personalities from the world of entertainment and athletes of international level», among his clients there is a trace of the former Big Brother showgirl Francesca Cipriani.

That of physiotherapist, in fact, “in the absence of the required qualifications, the required qualification and the necessary registration in the register”. And it is precisely starting from this suspicion that at the beginning of 2023 the Fiamme Gialle of commander Diego Lauretti started the investigation. An investigation which, in addition to confirming the initial investigative hypothesis, quickly broadened the field to include sexual violence.

Of the eight gym clients undergoing physiotherapy treatments, four claimed to have been subjected to invasive and non-consensual groping, while in one case a full report was placed on record. Everything would have happened during physiotherapy, cryotherapy and pressotherapy treatments, inside a specially set up gym room, the door of which was often locked during the sessions. A first element considered particular, subsequently supported by months of technical checks, declarations and documentary acquisitions.
The expertise
To give consistency to the picture that emerged, among other things, an expert report delegated by the Prosecutor’s Office. A technical consultancy according to which, even if the suspect had actually been titrated, certain maneuvers carried out would not be compatible with a normal physiotherapy activity. Hence, Marsella’s arrest – under house arrest with an electronic bracelet – and the simultaneous seizure of the gym.

Meanwhile, while the investigators do not exclude that in light of the media coverage some further alleged victims may come forward, the 29-year-old’s girlfriend defends him via social media: «Whoever knows our center knows who we are, the way we work and the powerful background of Dr. Biagio Marsella who boasts over 20 academic qualifications, an international degree in osteopathy” and according to him is also obtaining a “Phd, the highest level of education in the world. In the next few days we will be able to demonstrate our absolute non-involvement in slander.”
