New look for the Muscle beach of San Benedetto, the goal is to have the open-air gym by May. Enthusiastic athletes: “Hurry up”

SAINT BENEDICT – «On paper, the project is beautiful. We can’t wait for it to be built, to test all the tools, checking that they are up to what was expected.” The words of the young Antonio Guidi summarize well the climate of enthusiasm and curiosity that exists around the announced redevelopment of the gym on the beach, located near the mouth of the Albula. He, together with a large group of friends, is among the most frequent visitors to that free, public space which, over the years, has seen attendance grow dramatically.

The contribution

The renovation of the gym (now known by all as Muscle beach) is possible thanks to a contribution of over 40 thousand euros that the Fainplast company of patron Battista Faraotti has granted to the Municipality. The project was revealed a few days ago; the works should start at the beginning of May and finish at the end of the same month. «We hope that the timing will be respected, generally certain interventions take longer», continues Guidi, hoping to have the gym ready for the beginning of the summer. Yes, but what will be mounted? These are two highly versatile elements, the “Public Island Outrace” and the “Public Island Rack”, i.e. solutions for outdoor training that fulfill a dual need: on the one hand they offer a professional, functional and complete solution , suitable for expert athletes in different disciplines (functional-training, calisthenics, street workout, and much more) guaranteeing everyone the possibility of versatile and safe training, aimed at improving their physical well-being. The pre-existing equipment will be dismantled and relocated in two parks: one in the northern area and the other in the southern area of ​​the city. The new system is being built by the specialized company “Fai Tek” whose representative, Gianluca Tondi, has already highlighted how the San Benedetto one will be one of the most complete equipped spaces in Italy. Muscle beach started towards the end of June 2020, with an initial investment of around 8 thousand euros by the municipal administration, then led by mayor Piunti.

The empowerment

In 2021, driven by the great attendance, the system was upgraded with new tools. Now, thanks to this important sponsorship, we will take a further step forward.
