Bertolaso in South America to recruit new nurses. New stop in Washington in May
Descriptive text here

The mission of the Lombardy Region welfare councilor continues Guido Bertolaso in South America. The objective is to train and ‘recruit’ new nurses. It is currently located in Buenos Aires in Argentina. He will then continue to Paraguay. “First of all, I would like to reiterate that our doctors and our nurses have the highest priority and we have demonstrated this with concrete actions. We were the first, like Lombardy, to have provided a series of economic incentives for those who work in emergency rooms, for those who deal with emergency-urgency. We have opened up to freelancers in various specialties, including pediatrics, psychiatry, orthopedics and those specializations that we lack most in hospital facilities, increasing hourly incentives. The objective is to relaunch and reorganize our public health service.”

Lack of staff

The mission in South America is aimed at “filling the shortage of staff, especially nurses, in hospitals. We chose this geographical area because here, from many points of view, the population is very close to us. The ambassador reported the presence of 1,800,000 Argentines who also have Italian passports. The objective is to create a bilateral cooperation program, so that each of the two countries can benefit from this initiative of ours. Then form here nurses that they can be useful to the Argentine healthcare system and ensure that some of them can then come to work in Italy”.

Trip to Washington in May

The councilor’s operation Bertolaso it doesn’t stop there. In May, in United States, another mission is planned, with the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, to bring together Italian doctors working in this country. The destination will be Washington not only because the Department of Health is based there, but above all because it is home to one of the most important points of reference for modern medicine and future science. Here, as in many other facilities around the world, Italian doctors, researchers and scientists work. With President Fontana we asked our embassy to bring all these together to explain to them what our project is, what our vision of public health in Lombardy is and what our intentions and expectations are”.
