The general practitioner will be “picked up” by a policeman. After the threats and violence suffered, Dr. Elisa Gilardoni will return to the Caglio clinic from tomorrow and there will be a policeman in charge of it in agreement with the municipal administration. We have reported what happened in recent weeks and in particular the same doctor who announced that she had suffered four episodes of violence, three of which in the last six months: «The last episode took place at the end of February in Caglio when a man from the town started shouting at me, he then pushed the desk against me and kicked the chair practically putting me with my back to the wall and preventing me from leaving the doctor’s office. Luckily I was quick enough and managed to escape to the square. Unfortunately, as we work by appointment, there was no one else in the surgery.” The doctor was then accompanied by the Asso police when she left the clinic where she had returned to finish her work shift.
The other two recent episodes, the doctor explained, involved people without a residence permit who asked to treat a stab wound in an arm and in another case to have stitches removed.
After these episodes the doctor no longer wanted to return to the Caglio clinic. Now Elisa Gilardoni explains: «My clients were already informed that I would return, it was just necessary to organize ourselves to do it safely. The will has always been there on my part and also on the part of the institutions. In this case I will be monitored.”

The mayor of Caglio Vittorio Molteni explains how the municipal administration managed to bring the service back to the town: «We thank the Municipality of Magreglio who provided us with a policeman who will supervise the doctor during the hours of presence in the Caglio clinic. Our desire has always been to solve this problem, we will also see to intervene with a video surveillance system. I am very happy that the doctor is returning to serve in the village.”
What happened in Caglio had caused a certain stir precisely because of the episodes and the subsequent refusal by Dr. Gilardoni to continue her activity in that clinic, clearly creating a disservice to her clients, a disservice which in the end lasted in practice only about a month. Doctor Gilardoni will therefore be active in Caglio from Thursday 9am to 12am and naturally on the following Thursdays after the citizens of Caglio, Rezzago and Sormano had also started collecting signatures to get the general practitioner back.
