A zero kilometer wooden mobile home — idealista/news

A small house for two. Or a space that serves as a library. Or even a small stage to hold a concert. The idea was to design a structure with multiple functions which moreover it had to be mobilewith i basic home comforts. It also had to be made entirely in zero kilometer wood. These are all the conditions that the team of students of the Master in Advanced Ecological Buildings and Biocities of the IAAC of Barcelona had to respect when they were commissioned with the project. This is how it was born mobile House that is called MOCHA

The challenge was not trivial, but the students rolled up their sleeves and the project became reality. There mobile House It’s composed by two volumes, called “tool chests”, solid and anchored. The front part houses the heaviest area as it includes all the necessary services of a home: kitchen, shower, toilet and a storage room for the electrical and water systems. The other part has a wardrobe for storing custom-made furniture that allows you to carry out various activities. The furniture is foldable. In the rest of the furnishings there are two beds, one of which has an extendable mattress.

The walls of the house are made with laminated wood panels with 4cm thick pegs.

Powered by the sun

The mobile home gets its energy from the sun and is equipped for 24 hours of use without needing to be recharged. The internal and external space are illuminated with LED strips. The kitchen, for its part, is equipped with a sink, single burner stove and drawers under the worktop. It also has a refrigerator and hanging space for utensils. The shower water is collected in a basin and stored in the gray water tank. The water is then filtered and pumped into the recycled water tank and reintroduced into the system. Everything is thought out in detail. There are indicators on the kitchen wall that allow you to see the battery level as well as the water level in the tank.

On each side of the mobile home there are four glass doors, which can be open, semi-open or closed. When they are open, the house is like a window to the outside. The structure was built with wood sustainably harvested from the Valldaura Labs lands in the Collserola Natural Park. In this way, the requirement for zero kilometer wood was achieved.
