The docufilm ‘Denied Death’, which reports the testimonies of the relatives of the victims of the state of emergency during the ‘pandemic’, is making the rounds in cinemas throughout Italy, giving answers, albeit dramatic, to many, too many questions. On the one hand, the suffering and bewilderment of those who were unable to assist their loved ones in hospital, of not being able to know the truth about ‘strange’ deaths, of people hospitalized for viral infections or even for more banal causes, and literally swallowed by the institution to be returned in the luckiest cases as corpses and in many others as ashes.
On the other, a documentary with a dry style, which gives nothing away to easy emotions, but focuses solely on the strength of truth. Synopsis ‘Death denied’: during the Covid19 state of emergency, the guidelines and protocols imposed by the government prevented family members from following the hospital stay of their loved ones, in many cases even from communicating with them by telephone and from being able to see the body of the deceased as it was delivered in a black bag. This contributed to interrupting the physiological process of mourning with serious psychological repercussions and suffering.
