In Campania there were positives for Covid-19 21 in the past week (11 – 17 April 2024), found from the examination of 16,797 tests, according to the aggregated data from the Regions – Ministry of Health – Istituto Superiore di Sanità, released on December 1st. They had been registered in the previous week 47 total cases out of 15,697 tests carried out in the five provinces of Campania. The positivity rate is at 0.1%: it had been stuck at 0.3% for a few weeks. In the period examined, none were ascertained death due to Covid-19, 1 in the previous 7 days.

Vaccination campaign 2023-24

In conjunction with the anti-flu campaign for the 2023/24 season, the launch of a national vaccination campaign against COVID-19 is expected with the use of a new formulation of mRNA and protein vaccines (updated monovalent formulation XBB 1.5), whose approval by the EMA and AIFA is expected for the end of summer/early autumn and whose doses are expected to be available starting from October. Following the authorization by EMA and AIFA of the original/BA.4-5 bivalent formulation of the Comirnaty vaccine, they are now available, as part of the anti-SARSCoV-2/COVID-19 vaccination campaign, two bivalent formulations of m-RNA vaccines (original/omicron BA.1 e original/BA.4-5 of Spikevax and Comirnaty). These vaccines, explained the Technical Scientific Commission (CTS) of AIFA, have shown the ability to induce an antibody response greater than that of the original monovalent vaccine both against the Omicron BA.1 variant and the BA.4 and BA variants. 5.
