Marco Liorni was born in Rome on August 6, 1965. Since he was a child he has been passionate about the small screen. After middle school, he chose to enroll in classical high school “Margaret of Savoy” of the capital, where he obtained his high school diploma.
After finishing high school, Marco Liorni did not stop studying, choosing to enroll at Universitywhere he graduated in humanities. He began his career as a radio presenter, and then made his debut on Canale 5 on “Verissimo” in 1996, first as a correspondent and then as a presenter instead of Cristina Parodi. Later he was also a correspondent for “Big Brother”, before moving on to Rai’s infotainment and the successes of programs such as “Chain Reaction” and “L’Eredità”.
Because Marco Liorni failed high school
In an interview with TV Smiles and SongsMarco Liorni recounted his school years. He was not a model student: “In my second year of classical high school I failed because I immediately stopped studying and didn’t go to school.”
The host revealed that he often skipped school: “In Rome they say that ‘I used to wank’”. Where did he go instead of following lessons in class with his classmates? “I used to sneak into the television studios of local broadcastersTeleregione, Teleroma 56, Teleurbe, Gbr… I have always been passionate about TV and radio. Once I managed to enter an external RAI studio in via Teulada, they were doing an interview with Alberto Lattuada and I started watching, I was enraptured. I asked the operators how many rooms there were, how they worked… At a certain point a cameraman asks me: ‘Are you the son of someone who works here?’. I do not. It was open and I went in…’. He immediately kicked me out.”
Marco Liorni then finished high school: “I repeated the year and they sent me back to mathematics. But then I recovered and at the Maturity I came out with 60/60the best.” The lowest grade he got in his school career was a 2 in mathematics: “I really struggled with that subject. On the other hand, I did very well in philosophy, astronomical geography and Italian: I got high marks in the essays.”
He remembers his high school years classmate, Luca: “He always played along when I had to avoid questions. I’ll tell you one: we were in our last year, there was a Latin question and I hadn’t studied. Professor Santi came in and said: ‘Today we’re hearing… Liorni’. I immediately threw my head back, covering my face with my hand and Luca: ‘Prof, he’s bleeding from his nose…’. And I escaped that time too. I apologize to Professor Santi.”

Marco Liorni has three children: Nicholasborn from his marriage to his first wife Cristina, married in 1993, ed Emma and Violaborn from the union with the second wife, Giovanna Astolfiwith whom he got married in the United States of America in 2024. In 2023 Emma obtained her high school diploma: her proud father left her a dedication on social media.
