Taking stock at the end of the year, the 2025 stands out as one of those dense periodscomplex, crossed by global tensions. Wars, economic crises, climate changes have made everyday life heavier, pushing us to search spaces for escape, lightness and breathing.
In this scenario, i red carpet they played exactly that role. Not simple catwalks, but moments capable of enchanting, sparking conversations, raising reflections that often went beyond taste and touched on the sociological, the cultural, the symbolic.
This is also the meaning of the most glamorous events: mirror ourselves in the time we live intransforming clothes and gestures into a form of collective language. A way to distract yourself, yes, but also to observe the world from another, brighter, more imaginative angle.
For the world of fashion, 2025 was historic. We have witnessed a true revolution, with 20 debuts by new designers. A transformation that was also immediately reflected on the red carpets, which became the first space for telling the new visions: custom clothes designed as postersrely on stars capable of translating them into imagery.
The most successful results have come from here. Among the moments that defined the year – and also among the honorable mentions that remained outside the top 10 but impossible to ignore – stand out Julia Roberts at the Venice Film Festival in Versace by Dario Vitale (a brief but memorable interlude, given his subsequent farewell to the brand) e Elle Fanning at the Oscars in Givenchy by Sarah Burtonperfect synthesis between heritage and new sensitivity.
In addition to debuts, celebrities have used the red carpet as a personal stage, revealing baby bumps displayed as declarations of joy and awareness. And if you thought that the naked dress if it were 2024 stuff, think again: from Margot Robbie a Zoe Kravitz e Dakota Johnsoni daring gowns they generated the most viral, talked about and loved moments of the year.
Here are our 10 red carpet highlights of 2025
1/ Jenna Ortega in Givenchy
Oltre to Elle Fanning, Jenna Ortega she was among the first to wear Givenchy by Sarah Burtonchoosing a crystal-encrusted bodice from the Fall/Winter 2025 dresses, her debut for the house. A brilliant move: Ortega maintained his Wednesday Addams aesthetic without falling into caricature. Fantastic, elegant and bold at the same time.
2/ Margot Robbie in Armani Privé
For the London premiere of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, Margot Robbie amazed us with a completely sheer gown, covered in crystals, from the spring 2025 collection of Armani Privé. In collaboration with her stylist Andrew Mukamal (the man behind all the looks of press tour of Barbie), Robbie subverted expectations by making one of the more extreme naked dresses of the surprisingly refined red carpet.
3/ Zoë Kravitz in Saint Laurent
4/ Rihanna in Marc Jacobs
Rihanna loves announcing surprise pregnancies, so it’s no surprise that she chose the Met Gala red carpet this year to reveal their third child on the way. Arriving late – as always – with A$AP Rocky, she showed off a Marc Jacobs total look in line with the 2025 theme: ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’.
5/ Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner coordinated
For the David Di Donatello red carpet the couple opted for coordinated total black looks. Specifically: Kylie chose a mermaid dress by Schiaparelli (FW 2025 collection). The partner also chose a black monochrome outfit: a double-breasted black velvet suit by TOM FORD by Haider Ackermann, combined with a pleated crêpe de chine shirt of the same color.
6/ Cynthia Erivo in Prada and Ariana Grande in Schiaparelli Haute Couture
The press tour of Wicked: For Good it was a whirlwind of thematic looks from Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grandefaithful to the dark/light dualism of their characters. For the New York premiere, Erivo chose a dress Balenciagacustom by Pierpaolo Piccioli inspired by spring/summer 2026. Ariana Grande, on the other hand, a designer dress Schiaparelli couture with sugary pink tulle skirt and sculpted black bodice.
7/ Ayo Edebiri in Chanel
It’s not easy to convey your personality on the red carpet. At least not successfully. Nevertheless Ayo Edebiri she almost always succeeded. We loved his Loewe ai Golden Globe 2025 suitinspired by Julia Roberts’ legendary Armani from 1990, but we celebrate the glorious dress at British Film Festival: one of the firstthe Chanels of Matthieu Blazy, from spring/summer 2026. Glamorous, cool and perfectly in line with her style.
8/ Dakota Johnson in Gucci
Dakota Johnson pulled off so many sheer lace looks that made you wonder: what made her Gucci at the Zurich Film Festival special? Sure the shade electric blue. A good choice Dignifieda, fresh from his debut at the Italian fashion house. The combo of sheer lace and fitted silhouette made it look spectacular.
9/ Pamela Anderson in Tory Burch
This year, at least the first half, has been dominated by Pamela Anderson. Cover star of Bazaar in 2025, she honored us with memorable looks. First of all the Met Gala: a piece Tory Burch in ice blue, all crystals and gems, perfect tailor-made. With her ‘Joan of Arc’ bob, one of our Met favourites.
10/ Sienna Miller in Givenchy
Another big pregnancy announcement came at the Fashion Awards in December, with Sienna Miller in a dress sheer white by Givenchy by Sarah Burton. With extra-long blonde waves, the actress was a bohemian goddess through and through.
