What happened this summer to Raoul Bova, after the episode of Falsissimo in which Fabrizio Corona spoke about the alleged extra-marital relationship that the actor would have had with the model Martina Ceretti (while he was still the partner of Rocío Muñoz Morales), profoundly affected him. The actor made no secret of it, as just a few weeks ago he declared that everything he experienced was like a “traumatic experience” and that many friends left him alone.
In an interview with Tv Sorrisi e Canzoni, Bova added another significant detail. The actor revealed that he had thought about leaving Don Matteo, the series in which he plays the protagonist role – Don Massimo – from 2022, and that he will return to Rai 1 with new episodes from 8 January.
“If there will be Don Matteo 16? I don’t know if there will be Don Massimo”, revealed Bova, adding that in reality his character would have been partly in doubt for this year too. “When what we know happened, I called the producers of the series to understand what was best to do. I told them: ‘If you think that, with my personal life, I am harming such a beloved fiction, tell me and I will step aside’. I had even proposed having Don Massimo die suddenly to get out of the scene”, the actor further revealed.
The reaction of Don Matteo’s colleagues
The production, however, after a discussion with Bova, had decided to resume filming, as we had said: “They asked me if I had done something illegal. I hadn’t, so we continued to work calmly and no one on set ever made a negative comment towards me”. He never had any problems with his colleagues: “We spend nine months on set, almost every day in close contact, we know the problems of each of us and we give each other advice. Nathalie Guetta, Francesco Scali and Pietro Pulcini are like a family, they never had a moment of prejudice or failure towards me when I was in difficulty.”
