«When you write a song you don’t think about success, it’s a privilege to find it». Gianna Nannini who recently turned 70, spoke about herself in a long interview with Domenica In by Mara Venier. Interview that perhaps she didn’t really want to do. She wasn’t annoyed but, at a certain point, the presenter pointed out that she seemed a bit strange and Gianna replied: «I’m not very interested in the interview» and Mara told her with an amused but also surprised expression: «And what do we want to do?”. Then, both laughed accompanied by the applause of the studio audience.
Gianna Nannini, after Mara Venier’s compliments on her new album, responded: «In my career I have never thought about success. When you make songs and don’t think about the result they could achieve, all the most beautiful things come, always if you work with passion.”

Gianna Nannini began her interview with Domenica In, talking about her latest album “Sei nell’anima” by saying: «I have always been very demanding of myself which is why it took me so long to come back. In my album there are 12 new songs that all come from my soul, every word had to come from inside me to “brush” this album and all the concentration needed was needed.” The singer then spoke about her age: lately, everyone has been asking her if she is really 41 years old. Gianna explained: «Everyone thinks I’m 41 because on the record there’s a song called 1983. I choose my age, so I’m from ’83 and I tell everyone. This is not a way to make me younger, it’s a fact. I am vintage.”
The singer also added: «Sanremo? I think it’s a great opportunity, an important springboard.
The only time I wanted to go was the year I wrote “Fotoromanzo”. Then I no longer participated.”
Gianna Nannini also told the reason why at the beginning of her career she found herself facing everything alone: «At the beginning my dad didn’t want me to do this job and so I left home and ran to Milan. I achieved my dream, which was what I wanted most in the world, without the help of my parents. I did the first audition with Mara Maionchi who took me to work with her, I owe her a lot. During my adolescence, then, I always felt a bit alone and the piano was the only way I had to find affection that, perhaps, didn’t come from my family. That tool was fundamental for me.”
Finally, Gianna Nannini explained what love is for her: «Love in my opinion is living. How can you live without love in life? Penelope, for example, comes first for me. She is already 14 years old. I don’t expose it on social media because I think that children should always be respected and showing them too much is not good. I will always leave her free to choose what she wants to do and who she wants to become.”
