Both in private life and on the red carpet, Jennifer Lopez always gets talked about. And if some time ago she surprised us by arriving at the haute couture fashion shows with a garden cape, last night, at the premiere of her latest work, the Netflix film Atlas, she stood out for an extremely elegant look that had a cape at the center trendy: the mermaid skirt. The latter, characterized by a tubular cut, flared at the bottom, is among the skirts of the moment. Her designs have always characterized evening and wedding dresses, much less ready-to-wear. Now, however, she has also conquered our daily lives, thanks to the Mermaidcore trend that was unleashed after the launch of the remake of The little Mermaid by Disney, in 2023.

Jennifer Lopez stepped onto the red carpet with a two-piece suit by Greta Constantine, consisting of a white bustier and a mermaid skirt. The star has shown that it is the combinations that make the difference. Super tight, and combined with a contrasting structured top – in a game of color blocks – and precious jewels, the mermaid skirt was transformed into the most elegant evening dress.

If you want to wear the mermaid skirt in an “evening” version like Jennifer Lopez, combine it with a strapless bustier. You can choose, like the star, a minimal top or focus on something more refined, such as a lace model with flower décor. There are also different mermaid skirts: you can find different models.
