The back and forth between Mara Maionchi and Tiziano Ferro continues. After the interview with Beastsin which the record company had stated that the artist least grateful to her was Tiziano Ferro, the singer responded via social media: «I have always been grateful to you, I have proven it to you a million times during a million occasions, so I wonder: why this? Why now?”. And she posted the link to an article by MowMag which states that at the beginning of the singer’s career Mara Maionchi and her husband Alberto Salerno would have placed two conditions on Ferro: lose weight and never declare his homosexuality.

Now the reply from the record company which, at the Eurovision 2024 press conference, declared: «I would have liked to maintain a relationship, even speaking once a year, with the artist, where we really pushed hard at the beginning, we made a lot of effort together, and I would have liked an occasional: “Hi, how are you?”, or a “Merry Christmas”. That’s all, maybe we didn’t understand each other, and I’m sorry about that. I told what in my opinion was the truth about gratitude. I prefer human gratitude to economic recognition.”

And, when asked about the article posted by Tiziano Ferro, she replies: «No, in my opinion the forcing to lose weight is only because it wasn’t right for an 18 year old to weigh that much, but because being that big isn’t healthy, only for this. More the show has some needs, but only a few, it’s not a must. I don’t think that (Tiziano Ferro) did many things by force.”

And again: «I don’t think it’s a necessity, I think it’s also a health issue: a young man moves better, but it’s normal: I also try to maintain myself, because it helps. But it’s a matter of choice. I think I gave him good advice then, but in good faith, without thinking that someone a little more robust… No, the songs are what matter. Being thinner helps, it is not a basic fact, but an important one.” But the record company does not respond to the indirect accusations of having put pressure on Ferro to prevent him from revealing his homosexuality.
