Art critic and television personality, Vittorio Sgarbi has shown all his irascibility on several occasions, even being convicted in court. From the past, a moment now emerges in which he forcefully lashed out against the well-known presenter: a gesture that scandalized the web.

Those who lived through the nineties will certainly remember Vittorio Sgarbi and his often lightning-fast and sudden utterances. A trait of the art critic’s personality that sometimes even cost him complaints and convictions, but certainly contributed to his success in those years. The gesture towards the legendary host, however, was not liked at all by the people of social media, who did not spare him a lot of criticism.
Born in Ferrara 71 years ago, after graduating with honors in philosophy from the University of Bologna, he specialized in History of Art and as a historian began working in 1977 at the superintendence of historical and artistic heritage in Veneto. There popularity came for him in 1987, thanks to his frequent appearances on the Maurizio Costanzo Show and throughout the nineties he was the host of Sgarbi newspapers on Canale 5, a slot dedicated to art but which he also used in 1994 against Berlusconi, due to the absolute ban on criticizing the new candidate in the political elections of that year on Biscione networks.

Often requested as a guest on other Mediaset programmes, Vittorio Sgarbi had the opportunity to interface with some of the best-known faces of the small screen, such as Mike Bongiorno. The father of Italian television, first presenter of the newly formed Rai with Arrivals and Departures, found himself having to deal with the susceptibility of the art critic.
A moment immortalized in a video circulating on social media and which sees Bongiorno underlining to Sgarbi how he is talking to a person who has a 40-year career behind him. The man’s response is lightning fast, screaming “40 years of lost time!” A snub, pass the pun, which users didn’t like at all: “S****** and rude from the beginning of this useless career! someone wrote, while others underlined the elegance and composure that Mike managed to maintain: “Mike came out great! Sgarbi has never respected anyone”. Words that the critic, at least in this context, could perhaps have avoided, which he rarely did and even cost him expulsion from the Chamber of Deputies, being carried out in arms by security personnel.
