Family allowance, new amounts ready with increases from July 1st

From July, the income levels and amounts relating to the Family Allowance will be updated. As usual, a revaluation based on consumer prices will be applied, which will lead to changes. Istat calculated the change in the consumer price index by comparing the current data with that of the previous year.

Beneficiaries of the family allowance

The Family Allowance is a financial benefit provided by INPS for various categories of workers. Employed workers and low-income retirees, including workers covered by tuberculosis insurance, are eligible.

Workers who can claim Family Allowance include:

  • Private sector employees
  • Agricultural employees
  • Employees of closed or bankrupt companies

Furthermore, holders of economic social security benefits from employment and workers in other direct payment conditions can benefit from it.

They cannot request the allowance:

  • Small direct farmers for self-employed days
  • Direct farmers, settlers and sharecroppers
  • Pensioners with special pension for self-employed workers, such as artisans or traders

Changes in July

With the introduction of the Single and Universal Allowance for dependent children in March 2022, the Family Allowance and the Family Allowance have been repealed for households with children and orphans, who are now covered by the Single Allowance . The new income levels that will come into effect on July 1st are for family units made up of spouses, siblings and grandchildren.

Changes in income levels

The percentage change calculated by Istat between 2022 and 2023 is +5.4%. This increase has allowed Istat to draw up reference tables with the monthly amounts for different families. The changes will be valid from 1 July 2024 until 30 June 2025.
