The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini announced that the government is preparing a 20 million euro fund to provide a fuel bonus. In this case, however, the measure will be reserved only for hauliers who drive heavy vehicles for the transport of goods.
There will be no click day for the awarding of this bonus. The money will be awarded according to the applications submitted in December 2023 through the IT platform specially prepared by the Customs and Monopolies Agency, which were evaluated by the general management.
The 2024 fuel bonus for hauliers
On the evening of 7 June, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini confirmed a bonus for all Italian hauliers regarding the fuel used for their vehicles. The government has in fact made a 20 million euro fund available to finance this measure, which will serve to satisfy the requests made in December by the hauliers themselves at theCustoms agency and monopolies.
The leader of the League stated that this bonus was designed “to give concrete answers to a precious category” such as logistics transport. The bonus is reserved, as stated in the same decree, “for the purchase of diesel, used by the subjects referred to in the article 2 in euro category V vehicles or greater with a mass equal to or greater than 7.5 tonnes, used for the exercise of the aforementioned activities, net of value added tax, proven by the relevant purchase invoices”.
As mentioned, applications for this bonus have already been submitted, between 6 and 13 December 2023, at the specially prepared platform of the Customs and Monopolies Agency. “The data necessary for determining the credit that can be granted is included in the application: identification of the company, indication of the SIDI identifiers of the diesel purchase invoices, the sums spent by the company and the vehicles for which the diesel was purchased” he states the text of the decree.
The other petrol bonuses in 2024
However, in 2024 there will be no others petrol-related bonuses and fuel in addition to that granted to hauliers. In fact, the government has not renewed a series of measures that made it possible for some categories to obtain money to spend on refueling their cars. For example, between 2022 and 2023, 200 euros were added to the fringe benefits that an employer could provide without taxation to its employees, dedicated precisely to fuel. In 2024, however, this measure was not confirmed by the government, and therefore we return to the overall limit of 1,000 and 2,000 euros.
The only way to have a sort of petrol bonus that is not linked to company welfare is the card Dedicated to you. In fact, since January the government’s social card also allows you to refuel with petrol or diesel. For a good part of its beneficiaries this means the addition of 77.20 euros to the 382.50 present inside the prepaid card. A figure that will be raised overall to 500 euros, starting from September, for large families with children. However, the Dedicated to you card is not available to everyone. Some precise parameters must be respected, including having a Isee less than 15,000 euros.
