what pride for the country, historic decision

Stellantis, the icon will be Italian from start to finish: our country can smile after the group’s decision.

Relations between Stellantis and Italy have certainly not been idyllic in recent times. The controversies between the government and the group over the decision to move many of its activities abroad have continued. The group, for its part, defended itself by considering the strategic choices made a necessity to limit production costs and be able to produce low-cost models capable of competing with the competition. However, the company’s point of view does not seem to have appeased the criticism.

Stellantis chooses Italy (AnsaFoto) – Flopgear

Just think of the sensational case of Alfa Romeo Milano, which ended up changing its name and becoming Junior due to the government’s complaints about using an “Italian” name for a car not produced in our country. Now, however, good news seems to have finally arrived for the Italian motor industry. Stellantis has decided to focus heavily on our country: the icon will be entirely Made in Italy, to the delight of many concerned about the fate of our country’s motor industry.

Stellantis’ decision

The future of the brand’s Italian factories, as mentioned, and consequently of the workers has caused quite a few concerns in recent times. The apprehension certainly remains given the still few indications regarding the future, but in the meantime some excellent news has arrived which partially calms the controversy and brings Stellantis closer to this country.

Fiat 500 in Mirafiori (Stellantis) – Flopgear

The new FIAT 500 hybrid will be produced in the historic Mirafiori plant. With the thermal 500 preparing to exit production, and the electric version (still produced in the Italian factory) struggling to make inroads into the market, the news certainly reassures Italian workers and confirms the extraordinary bond of the 500, an icon of Made in Italy and a fundamental point of FIAT history, with our country.

The news adds to the recent news of the confirmation of the new Panda produced in the Pomigliano plant, and the arrival of the new Jeep Compass model in the Melfi factory. Three fundamental vehicles for the Stellantis Universe are therefore in the hands of our country, and bring the holding company closer to the Italian government. The executive has set one million cars produced in Italy as the goal to be achieved by 2030, a goal impossible to achieve without Stellantis, the main manufacturer in our country. The partial rapprochement of the intentions of Stellantis and the government is therefore certainly excellent news for the future of the Italian industry.
