“Good morning”. I wouldn’t want to say anything else reading the latest statement from Ursula von der Leyen. Indeed: I could say “good morning Ursula”, given that the President of the European Commission only realizes today that Chinese car production represents a danger for the industry and for the Western market, in particular the European one. Not only. Von der Leyen also says that subsidized Chinese products, such as electric cars or steel, are flooding the European market and at the same time China continues to massively support its manufacturing sector.

Here is this statement from Ursula von der Leyen it represents, if we want, all the hypocrisy of the current European Union. Throughout the legislature, both the sovereignists, the identitarians and the conservatives, but above all all the people of common sense, pointed out the enormous danger that the European green deal promoted by Commissioner Timmermans and the current European Commission, the danger it represented for the interests of European nations and the danger it represented for the massive entry into our market of Chinese products. The Chinese could only enjoy the green deal European, not only in the electric car sector, which if we want is only the most striking case. Also in the renewables sector there can be many examples.

Anyone who denounced this evidence would essentially come accused of being a denialist climate, of not having the necessary attention to green issues, of having a protectionist vision and so on. But now, a month before the elections, Ursula von der Leyen coincidentally realizes the reality. What’s the point? The point is that they seem to be frankly statements spot, for the use and consumption of elections, rather than truly reasoned declarations.

What Ursula von der Leyen says is absolutely true and it is under everyone’s eyes that the China it is subsidizing its market, its automotive components and renewables sector with public funds and then exporting them with unfair competition. But the fault is also ours: we Europeans are the only continent in which in 2035, due to the fault of the European Union, the production of internal combustion engines, therefore diesel and petrol engines, will be stopped. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if in a few years – after Qatargate – a China Gate emerged, or if we discovered that some European worlds had interests that were not always transparent towards the Chinese government.

Because otherwise certain decisions that have been taken in this legislature would not be explained. Suicidal decisions for our market, for our industries, for our working classes, for our national and European security. The fact that Ursula von der Leyen at the end of the legislature, after having approved the measures that generated this situation for all these years, to say “well there is a danger with China” is frankly something very hypocritical.
