As you now know, the new Telepass price increases will come into effect from next 1 July 2024, with the Basic contract which will cost 3.90 euros per month. Many users have already abandoned the company to join the competition, but what do UnipolMove and MooneyGo offer at (approximately) a third of the price?

Let’s start by seeing what it allows us to do Telepass Basic at 3.90 euros per month (11.70 euros each quarter). Of course we can pay the electronic toll throughout Italy but also in France, Spain, Portugal and Croatia, it is also possible to purchase via app electronic cartoons to travel in Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. With Telepass Base it is also possible to pay for affiliated car parks, Area C in Milan, the ferry to the Strait of Messina and take advantage of the Memo option which reminds us of deadlines and controls to be carried out on vehicles registered within the app.

With this device it is possible to travel throughout the national territory but not abroad and in Sicily, the island’s motorway sections will in fact only be activated later. Today you can pass under the yellow toll booths with the symbol of the European flag and the T for Electronic Toll. Then there are the affiliated car parks, fuel, taxis, Area C of Milan, car and motorbike tax payments, PagoPa, slips and Snowit – Skipass.

MooneyGo also allows you to pass through the yellow toll booths marked with a T throughout Italy (including in Sicily) and at cross-border toll booths (but not abroad). The system works on “closed” (the most common routes), “semi-closed” (transit through a single toll booth) and “open” or “free flow” motorways such as the Pedemontana Lombarda. It is then possible to pay for the Telepass affiliated car parks, Area C in Milan, and the ferry on the Strait of Messina.

1714998446_67_What-to-choose-between-TelIn a certain way the three services are equivalent, if you travel in Italy the convenience of UnipolMove and MooneyGo is obvious, however Telepass remains practically mandatory if you want to travel abroad without worries, even through electronic cartoons. Furthermore, all three services offer a Pay Per Use plan for those who travel occasionally on the motorway.

Telepass charges 1 euro per day only in case of use for all Basic services. The Slim device is sent to your home following an activation fee of 10 euros. Plan Pay Per Use of UnipolMove costs 0.50 euros per day, a fee that is activated upon first use of the device and is valid until 11.59pm on the same day. The activation cost is 10 euros. MooneyGo, which generally allows activation in 5 minutes with direct delivery of the device to participating bars and tobacconists, offers a Pay Per Use rate from 2.20 euros in the months in which the service is used. Also in this case the activation of the service is equal to 10 euros.
