The “kingdom” of sport changes its look. And the pedestrian tunnel will act as a showcase

The historic Cisalfa Sport shop in via XX Settembre will close towards the end of July. But for a little while. She will reopen her doors at the beginning of October in a new guise: more modern, in the name of innovation and technology. It is the project of Cisalfa Group, a national leader in the distribution of sporting goods, to give a radical refresh to the interiors and a conservative one for the exteriors and the façade of the historic shopping store, active since it had the name of « Goggi Sport”. The project for the redevelopment intervention is entrusted to the studio of the Bergamo architect Mario Cassinelli. «For me it is a great challenge and I am very happy to have received the assignment. I am fond of this shop: I used to go there with my dad as a child to buy skis. It is an interesting project and now intense months of work and great dedication await us”, said the architect.

The pedestrian connection

The work concerning the pedestrian/tunnel connection between via XX Settembre and via Zambonate is central which will become an extension of the shop with the same flooring, large windows overlooking the shop and LED walls on the opposite wall. The Group’s desire is that the new gallery can have the same opening and closing times as the shop. «Unfortunately, the pedestrian crossing is currently in poor condition and is rarely used. The objective is to redevelop it as a place of attraction, an integral part of the point of sale”, commented Cassinelli.

The façade will be restored, preserving the historic layout from the late 18th century. «The entire building is very particular. It retains some beautiful features that will be enhanced, such as the eaves”, continues the architect. Internally, customers will no longer go down to the basement as happens now, but the shop will develop starting from the ground floor and move up, remaining on four floors, but with larger spaces and a central elliptical hole that will give light to all levels, thanks to an optimization of the warehouses which will only be in the two underground floors.

«With all the sales spaces that will be on the upper floors, there will be a much brighter perception, thanks to the unobstructed view that will open onto the outside», Cassinelli points out. The internal layout will be that of the latest concept Cisalfa Sport stores (similar to that of the Curno store, ed.): sustainable, with the aim of reducing the environmental impact of consumption and improving energy efficiency. «We foresee the possibility of installing solar panels and covering part of the electricity needs with self-consumption – the Group says -. The lighting will be LED, leading to 50% less estimated consumption, while the heating and air conditioning will be heat pump, connected to a centralized remote management system which will lead to 5-10% less waste based on the plant and the store.” On May 9, the store plans to organize an “all-out sale” for the sale of the latest goods.
