Tesla and Xiaomi, the two electric car manufacturers, were compared in a safety test. Here’s who won the “race”

In the current historical period, most car manufacturers are starting the famous transition to electric which will allow the most industrialized countries to increase the production of zero-emission vehicles. The main objective is obviously to progressively reduce the emission of dangerous greenhouse gases.

However, electric cars still present significant problems also from an environmental point of view. Emblematic, for example, what can happen concerns the disposal of batteries. A problem of no small importance which adds to those relating to use such as the autonomy and charging speed of the batteries themselves.

On the automotive market there are companies specialized exclusively in the production of electric cars. Among these, the Teslarecently joined by the telephony giant Xiaomi which produced its first full electric vehicle. The latter challenged each other in an unofficial test. Here’s how it went.

The singular challenge between Tesla and Xiaomi: here’s how it went

A video is circulating on social media showing a particular automotive test, specifically designed to analyze the emergency braking present on the Xiaomi SU7 and on the rival Tesla Model 3. Before carefully analyzing the test results, you should know the most important characteristics of the two vehicles.

Starting from the Chinese Xiaomi, its first electric SU7 has a price of around 215,900 yuan which corresponds to approximately 28,000 euros. The car has a length of 499 cm, a width of 196 cm and a height of 144 cm. The Chinese vehicle is also offered with three different versions: the Standard, Pro and Max.

The first has a 73.6 kWh battery and a range of 700 km. The engine instead releases 299 horsepower. The Pro version includes a 94.3 kWh battery, which guarantees a range of 830 km. Also in this case the power of the engine reaches 299 horsepower. Finally, the top of the range Max has a double engine with a total of 673 horsepower. Its autonomy reaches 510 km with a 15-minute charge.

Here is the Tesla Model 3, one of the flagship vehicles of the American brand (Ansa) – Fuoristrada.it

As for the Tesla Model 3, this comes with the following dimensions: 4,694 x 1,933 x 1,443 mm. It is a sedan characterized by a bold and sporty design and three different versions. The first is a vehicle with 351 horsepower and 491 km of autonomy. The second version with a 75 kWh battery has a power of 351 horsepower and a range of up to 580 km. The latest version has 462 horsepower and 547 km of range.

So how did the challenge between the Xiaomi SU7 and the Tesla Model 3 go? First of all, the objective of the test was to verify the quality of the emergency braking of the two vehicles. For this reason, the organizers of the test suddenly made it appear a mannequin on the street precisely to verify the readiness of the technological device

From the video it is clear that Xiaomi’s SU7 failed the test by hitting the dummy. Clearly different result for the Tesla Model 3 which braked in time without breaking the “target”. However, a test – it must be reiterated – is not indicative of the actual performance of the two cars in question and is absolutely unofficial.
