The Italian economy accelerates. In the first quarter of 2024, GDP grew by 0.3% compared to the previous three months, which closed at +0.1% (figure revised downwards from +0.2%) This was announced by Istat on the basis of preliminary estimates. On a year-on-year basis, GDP increased by 0.6%.

In particular, in the first quarter of 2024 the gross domestic productexpressed in chained values ​​with the reference year 2015, corrected for calendar effects and seasonally adjusted, increased by 0.3% compared to the previous quarter and by 0.6% in trend terms.

The first quarter of 2024 had three extra working days compared to the previous quarter and the same number of working days compared to the first quarter of 2023.

The cyclical variation is the synthesis of an increase in added value in all sectors: agriculture, forestry and fishing, industry and services. On the demand side, there is a negative contribution from the national component (gross of inventories) and a positive contribution from the net foreign component. The change acquired for 2024 is equal to +0.5%.
