A tireless vehicle, at ease on any terrain and in any condition. This is the idea we got after a long test with the new Volkswagen Amarok in the 3.0 V6 Tdi version. A giant for our roads: with a length of 5.35 meters and a width of over 1.9, the pick-up from the German company is in line with the cars in the segment in terms of dimensions, but in terms of clarity of lines and presence On the road it stands out clearly.
It is precisely on the dual soul of a vehicle capable of facing any danger, on the one hand, but with a modern design and attention to detail as in a flagship, on the other, that Volkswagen is aiming to offer the market the totally renewed version of Amarok.
The sculpted front, with LED headlights, the powerful lines, the 16 to 21 inch wheels depending on needs, make it a car that certainly does not go unnoticed.
The Aventura setup tested by ANSA Motori is also equipped with LED fog lights and LED rear lights set in the body, equipped with an automated roller closure, with generous dimensions of 1.65 by 1.58 meters and capable of accommodating a Euro-pallet .

There is extensive use of technology on board. The 12″ infotainment system dominates the center of the dashboard, with a “Harman Kardon” audio system with 8 speakers. The electrically adjustable front seats are in leather and heated. Amarok is equipped with 25 assistance systems, adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition and a complete monitoring system, which also includes a parking control system capable of driving the vehicle autonomously, even in tight parking situations. : detects available spaces and carries out subsequent maneuvers by asking the driver only to monitor the parking process and intervene if necessary.
Our vehicle, capable of transporting up to 3.5 tonnes, is powered by the powerful 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine which delivers 240 HP and 600 Nm of torque. Also in the range is a 170 HP 4-cylinder diesel with manual gearbox and a 205 HP 4-cylinder, also diesel, with manual or automatic gearbox. The Amarok Aventura is fitted as standard with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, extremely precise and smooth both on easy road routes in 2W mode and, as we had the opportunity to test, put to the test in 4×4 mode on challenging dirt roads, fords, steep slopes and mud. There are six selectable driving modes: from “Normal” and “Eco”, to “Slippery surface” for asphalted roads covered in ice or snow and “Sand” for sand or deep snow; “Mud / rough roads” for use on muddy terrain or rough surfaces, in addition to the “Load / trailer” mode. The driving sensation is always extremely safe, and on the most demanding routes the solidity, construction quality and comfort are particularly appreciated.
Also excellent on long journeys where the large quantity of driving aids makes the journey completely relaxing.
Consumption, on such a versatile car, is difficult to calculate with precision. In mixed – urban, extra urban, off road – it is around 10 km/l provided you keep your foot light: the high torque is fun, but it costs money.
The price range for the Volkswagen Amarok is wide, over 82 thousand euros are needed for the super-equipped example of our test.
