An old coin kept in a drawer can be worth a lot: all you have to do is check. You could get a little treasure.
From rare coins there are several, each with a completely different value. Some are worth a lot, others very little. In many cases we turn to an expert numismaticsso as to avoid false illusions.
Obviously everything depends on the state of conservation, circulation and above all give them minting errors. These three elements can make the difference. Discovering that you have a little jewel in your home is always nice, in some cases it makes your mouth water.
What is it and how much is it worth
There thousand lire coinnamed Rome capital citywas introduced in 1970. It is a piece that commemorates the centenary of Rome Capital (1870-1970) and was made of 833 silver.
On the obverse side there is the head of the goddess Concordia, on the reverse side Michelangelo’s project for the paving of Piazza del Campidoglio is represented.
But how much is it worth such a coin? In conditions optimal, therefore in uncirculated, the amount is 600 euros. However, there are also test specimens, complete with writing TRIAL prominently displayed on the reverse, which could be worth much more.
There is also another series of this coin, in this case however 1000 lire Europa, with two very distinct variants. In the first there are errors on the back (Germany divided into two different states), in the second la incorrect position of Denmark and theIstria still present within the Italian borders. In the case of the German error the value is 3 euros, things do not change for the one minted exactly: it is worth around 4 euros (uncirculated) in the event of a sale.
Another example are the 100 lire from 1955 which can be worth a lot. On one side the crowned head of Italy of the time, on the other the image of the goddess Minerva. For these coins the value can even reach a thousand euros.
But there is the case of the coin from thousand lire in 1997 with “missing and vanishing stars” which can also be sold for the sum of 15 thousand euros. As we have seen, therefore, there is no shortage of cases of high value coins: noticing the details is decisive, finding rare pieces in uncirculated it is more decisive than ever.
