The employees of the Crai supermarket in via Balzella, sold to the Chinese brand Mood Maison, a company that manages the Mercatone in Cesena, are ready to demonstrate. The announcement of the garrison, scheduled for Tuesday morning at 12.30, arrived after the black smoke of the negotiating table between unions, Amaco Crai and Mood Maison. Mirela Koroveshi (Filcmas Cgil), Matteo Fabbri (Fisascat Cisl) and Anna Lisa Pantera (Uiltucs Uil) communicate that “the incoming company has declared a redundancy of almost 50% of its staff”.

“We are outraged, our fears turned out to be true – continue the trade unionists -. This step immediately presupposed the loss of professionalism of the employees involved and on Monday, after various meetings and insistence on clarity on our part, the curtain fell and it was declared the willingness to hire 12-14 workers compared to the 21 involved. It is unacceptable that once again it is the workers who lose out, and we would not allow it to happen! and our lawyers so that everyone takes their responsibilities.

A strike day was thus proclaimed for the entire work shift. “Inside the store there are workers with seniority of up to 30 and 38 years, with an age that varies from 50 to 62 years, with limitations also due to strenuous work and important family responsibilities, some single-income earners who have worked for a life at the supermarket and who certainly do not deserve this treatment – conclude the trade unionists – We are afraid that this could be the first of many other commercial activities that close due to the wild opening made in recent years in Forlì”.

The NoMegastore Committee also expressed “the utmost closeness” to the employees, saying it was “sorry to learn how much the massive and overwhelming presence of commercial activities in the same sector all close to via Bertini, which in the space of a few years saw the establishment of three other important sales points of as many large-scale distribution brands are starting to reveal their harmfulness, first and foremost towards the workers themselves”. The committee concludes: “Deskilling and the inevitable reduction of employees is something for which we should all mobilize and make our voices heard. We are not giving up and on Tuesday we will be alongside workers and trade union representatives, to demonstrate our solidarity”.
