PONTEDERA. It’s really a big party. And it came alive. TO Pontedera is celebrated on Vespa World Days, the world gathering of Vespa enthusiasts. A historic, unique event: and this is why in the city of Piaggio enthusiasts arrived from practically all over the world. And you just need to take a tour of the Vespa Village to understand the importance of the event, not just in numbers: from 7.30 until late in the evening it is a street of unique specimens, beautiful pieces, each of which has a story to tell. There is an air of fun in Pontedera these days, of leisure, of happiness. Also of engines, mufflers, spare parts. Stuff for connoisseurs, in short. But above all, a symbol is celebrated, the Vespa: a scooter famous throughout the planet.

While waiting for the final figures, the 2024 edition of the Vespa World Days is already announcing itself as one of the largest Vespa events ever. For the first time, the annual gathering of national Vespa Clubs from all over the world is held right where Vespa was born and where it has been produced continuously since 1946. A truly special edition also because it celebrates 140 years of Piaggio, a company founded in 1884, to which club representatives have already arrived from Australia and South America, from the USA and China as well as, obviously, from every European nation.
The anticipation is growing among Vespa enthusiasts and all guests for the great Vespa Parade, the parade of all the Vespas participating in the rally which, scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday 20th), will see thousands of Vespas and Vespa riders parading throughout the Valdera. Among the enthusiasts, leaving at 11 from Viale Italia in Pontedera, there will also be the TV presenter Rudy Zerbi.
Today we had a taste of the parade, with the various tours that led the Vespa enthusiasts to a true Tuscany Experience, to discover wonderful itineraries towards destinations such as Pisa and Volterra, a long line of Vespas, led by the special GTS 300 delivered to the State Police who will also be protagonists at tomorrow’s Parade. In addition to the great parade, tomorrow’s key event will be at the Vespa Village with the Concorso di Eleganza, an unmissable opportunity to see some of the most beautiful and rare Vespa examples parade accompanied by the elegance of riders and passengers.
The meet & greets continue in the Auditorium of the Piaggio Museum, meetings in which enthusiasts can interact with technicians and designers who are protagonists in the design and production of the Vespa, to learn every secret of the most famous and loved two-wheeler in the world. Since yesterday, the Museum premises also house the offices of the Vespa Historical Registry which, founded in 1980, is the body that protects and disseminates the technical memory of the Vespa.
All of Pontedera is the protagonist, not only for the magnificent welcome to Vespa enthusiasts, but also for having transformed its places with parties and events dedicated to the Vespa, from photographic and art exhibitions to the film festival which will see the continuous screening of three of the hundreds of films that had Vespa among the protagonists: the Disney-Pixar production Luca, the famous Roman Holiday and the fiction Enrico Piaggioan Italian dream.
