If the first event is part of the ‘A book for the SGT’ exhibition, which has been ongoing since March, the second is part of ‘Insiemi’, the Open Week of the national association of Small Museums.
The presentation of ‘Trieste Files. The hidden truths from the Second World War to today’ (July 2024) will take place on the second floor of the building in via Ginnastica n. 47, in the Museum room. Participation is free, with no booking required.
What can be the outcome of a life at the end of a forty-year journalistic career? Maranzana attempts to trace it through a re-edition of the reports published for Il Piccolo. The local newspaper, through Maranzana’s travels, expands beyond provincial borders and explores the Balkans and Eastern Europe, Turkey and the Middle East, reaching as far as Soviet Russia.
The book constitutes one of the last meetings of the cycleA book for the SGT‘ held in spring-summer 2024: literary presentations of works from Trieste, similar to Trieste or set in the city. Silvio Maranzana had already presented, in autumn 2021, ‘The basket of the century. Like one hundred years ago, basketball arrives in Trieste’ (July, 2020) aimed at celebrating one hundred years of Trieste basketball. A story of championships and matches to the last basket, on which occasion SGT had invited some of the players from the ‘old’ team that won the 1957-58 championship.

The Open Day aims to allow visitors to visit the Museum outside of reservations via email to [email protected] and on the usual opening days. We also wish to express our support for the International Museum Day and the European Night of Museums (scheduled for Saturday 18 May).
The Museum will therefore remain open from 9am to 12pm and from 2pm to 7pm; the guided toursproposed by the curator of the SGT, will take place at 10am, 11am, 4pm and 5pm.
Sets – Open Week of Small Museums‘ is the first edition of a new event promoted by the national association which brings together the small museums present in the area.
Joining Insiemi aims to create special events connected to your Museum for a single or more days of the exhibition. They can be, as in the case of the SGT, extraordinary openings; or literary presentations, concerts, interactive events, theatrical dramas, special ad hoc exhibitions and so on. Trieste itself participates with the activities of the Speleovivarium, the Bora Museum and the Laundry Museum.
