(Sixth Power) – Bologna, 2 May 2024 – After the success of the first edition, Danilo Montanari Editore, in collaboration with MAMbo – Museum of Modern Art of Bologna | Bologna Civic Museums Sector presents the second edition of BOOKS, the festival dedicated to art and artist books, which will take place at the Sala delle Ciminiere of MAMbo from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th May 2024.

Born from the idea of ​​not losing the legacy of two fundamental events in the sector – Artelibro, the Art Book Festival which took place in Bologna from 2003 to 2014, and FLAT – Turin Art Book Fair, an international event which animated the Piedmontese capital from 2017 to 2019 – BOOKS is positioned in a “lateral” segment, although not strictly alternative to the phenomenon of trade fairs, with the aim of proposing, thanks to the book, mediumcontents and opportunities that facilitate direct relationships of knowledge and exchange between artists and collectors, without giving up a market vocation.

For the second edition of BOOKSthe large spaces of the Sala delle Ciminiere will welcome 36 exhibitorsItalian and international booksellers and publishers in the sector, present with real projects on art books: not stands, but in-depth tables concentrated on a limited number of titles, not exceeding 100 units per exhibitor.

Inside the Sala delle Ciminiere they will also be proposed exhibition focuses which intend to highlight the quality and historicity of Italian art publishing with a selection of editions and original works by Vincenzo Agnetti, Giovanni Anselmo, Alighiero Boetti And Ketty LaRocca which will be visible inside them thanks to the devices present on site. Among the volumes on display are: Light (Giovanni Anselmo, 1972 Sperone, Turin), Machiavelli30 (Vincenzo Agnetti, 1978, Guanda, Milan) e In the beginning it was (Ketty La Rocca, 1971, Centro Di Edition, Florence).

To enrich this edition of the festival, Andrea Pazienza in Bologna 50 years latera tribute that illustrates the artist’s creative journey with a series of original editions of books, magazine issues, record covers, posters and ephemera, and the exhibition of some books by Mario Diacono protagonist of one video interview broadcast in the Sala delle Ciminiere.

BOOKS it will be the opportunity for the shop Anonymous Impressors (Via San Carlo 44, Bologna) to propose one printing demonstration typography with movable lead and wood type.

The setup of BOOKS it is also designed to encourage convivial exchange: in the center of the Sala delle Ciminiere there will be an area lounge which will host a series of talks with authors and collectors around the exhibition focuses that will enrich the three days of the festival with stimuli. Among these, we highlight those with Luca Cerizza And Vincenzo Sparagna.

BOOKS is edited by Danilo Montanari And Lorenzo Balbi and avails itself of a scientific committee composed of Silvia Alessandri, Mario Diacono, Liliana Dematteis And Giovanna Pisces.

Also for this second edition, the guiding image is entrusted to the artist Paolo Ventura.

The exhibition initiative is part of Bologna Summer 2024the program of activities promoted and coordinated by the Municipality of Bologna and the Metropolitan City of Bologna – Bologna-Modena Tourist Territory.
