“Book Exchange”: the children’s initiative to promote reading and inclusion – Turin News

A few days ago at Rostaa small municipality in the province of Turin, were the “Book Exchange” houses inaugurated, chosen, voted for and requested by Children’s City Council, with the presence of the children’s mayor Federico Carretto and the classes backstage, the children of the Davide Project of Villarbasse and a representative of the Augusto Querro di Rosta library.

The initiative, which was called “adopt me” and which was born for promote reading, active participation and inclusionsaw the houses placed, built by the boys ofDavide Project Association of Villarbassein the playgrounds in Piazza Stazione and the Fallen of Kefalonia,

“An initiative that has multiple values: from the culture that comes out of the libraries to go to the meeting places of the children to the inclusion of the children of the Davide Project (which takes care of disabled children in our territories) in their production, from the choice made of the CCR until the final installation today”, comments the municipal administration.

Furthermore, the goods purchased at the express request of the children were delivered: from leisure games to notebooks, from chalk for drawing “retro” games on the floor to cork rolls to be placed in the corridors. All in a project that has taught them that “their opinion is worth it” and what being a representative of other kids entails ability to listen, mediate, choose and realize the common will.
