With books like Superman: the bibliocabine inaugurated in Pratola

April 27, 2024

Entering a phone booth and coming out superheroes. A bit like Clark Kent who transformed into a telephone booth Superman with the difference that what gives superpowers is reading and exchanging books.

The first and only library booth was inaugurated this morning at the municipal house of Pratola Peligna, the result of the meeting between the old and unused telephone booth and a library. Point of book crossing where to bring books and borrow others, still a place of communication intended to host a form of literary sharing where the keyboard and telephone handset have left room for the books placed on the shelves.

Those decorated by the children of the day center for autism in Pratola Peligna led by the art master Giuseppe D’Orazio who chose the image of Superman intent on reading because, as we read on the cover of his book, “he who reads is a superhero”; as long as they respect the rules like those posted on the wall of the former telephone booth to remember that reading is everyone’s right and should be exercised as such.

An inauguration ceremony held in the presence of the children of the Day Center for Autism, all wearing the t-shirt with the most famous S in comics, which the mayor Antonella Di Nino and the city councilor Maria Laura Iacobucci, promoter of the initiative, wanted to thank expressly. Together with those who contributed to the initiative such as Emilio Presutti, a craftsman from Pratola who enthusiastically joined the Municipality’s initiative by making time and materials available to create the wooden structure placed inside the cabin. Donated by the theatrical cultural association Sciablaquerie of which Presutti himself is president, the shelving work represents a small but important gesture made by those who wanted to contribute to creating a place where from today, anyone, like Clark Kent, can become a superhero.
