Alessandro Michele’s first book arrives in bookstores

Alessandro Michele is ready for an unprecedented debut. Waiting to unveil his ready to wear collection next October in the role of creative director of Valentine, the Roman stylist presented the cover of his first book via social media. It’s called ‘The forms of life. Philosophy of reincanto’ and is published by the publishing house HarperCollins Italy. The volume, announced in 2022, will be available from May 7th. Written in tandem with Emanuele Cocciaphilosophy teacher atÉcole de hautes études en Sciences Sociales of Paris, will also be distributed in the USA, United Kingdom and Germany.

“Fashion is a strange spell: every time we dress we transform any shape or any color of the world around us into our own skin. It is this strange magic that makes it both the most powerful and most metaphysical art. To talk about it, it is therefore necessary to make creation and philosophy coincide”, we read on the page that the publishing house dedicates to the essay. “This is what Alessandro Michele and Emanuele Coccia do in this unparalleled treatise on the alchemy of the forms of life of all of us. Retracing and commenting on the work of the first, adopting the posture and graphic form that was once reserved for sacred books, the book shows that fashion is the most powerful art because it is the only one capable of changing our life, our body, our face: if other works of art presuppose a relationship of pure contemplation, each dress imposes a transformation of the self in order to become the object of our experience. And at the same time it is the most metaphysical art because it contradicts the cliché that describes the West as a culture that reduces all things to inanimate matter”.

Michele showed the photo of the book cover through his Instagram account which has 1.2 million followers, receiving comments and compliments from colleagues, professionals and numerous fans.
